November 3rd: We have completed upgrading
SpamAssassin on all our
production servers from version 2.65 to 3.0.1
The new version provides significantly improved spam detection because
SURBLs are now used. Basically, this means
that URLs used in the message body are checked against real-time blacklists.
As an example, messages to support@baremetal.com which score over 10
in SpamAssasin are thrown away unread. (10 is _double_ the default
threshold of 5, so this is quite a conservative threshold.) Since the
update, the number of spam messages being tracked in our support system
has fallen from about 130 per day to about 30! :-)
